The Jackson County Sheriff’s office is facing a discrimination complaint from another female employee alleging sexual harassment in the workplace. This discrimination lawsuit comes not long after the settlement of other sexual harassment complaints against the office. Those allegations were not specified because the complaints the women had filled with the Missouri Commission on Human Rights were settled. Workers need access to information and training to know their rights and to know that in the workplace, it is unlawful to harass an applicant or employee because of that person’s sex. Sex harassment is a serious issue; employers and employees need proper training and steps to prevent sexual harassment. Harassment at work does not have to be of a sexual nature; both victim and the harasser can be either a woman or a man, and the victim and harasser can be the same sex. Laws against discrimination and harassment are in place and labor lawyers may be able to help. If you have suffered from sexual harassment in Kansas City, consider calling an employment attorney at the Bullman Law Firm today.
