Target Corp. agreed to settle a hiring discrimination lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Employment assessments formerly used by Target allegedly discriminated against applicants for professional positions based on race and gender. The EEOC also claimed the assessments violated the American with Disabilities Act. Target has agreed to keep better data in order to prevent any future discrimination in their hiring processes. These particular assessments are no longer used and the EEOC did not find any discrepancies in Target’s actual hiring.
